Sorghum Partners announces winners in 2014 National Sorghum Producers competition

Chicago, Illinois, USA
January 12, 2015

Sorghum Partners®, a Chromatin, Inc. brand, is pleased to announce that three sorghum growers who planted Sorghum Partners® brand products have won at the county, state, and national level in the 2014 National Sorghum Producers competition.

Sorghum is a high yielding, nutrient-efficient and drought tolerant crop. Sorghum’s unique characteristics allow farmers to meet the growing demands for sustainable food, feed, and biomass production while reducing the cost of inputs such as water.

“We would like to congratulate Mr. Jack Welch from Maryland on his top National placement in the Double Crop Non-Irrigated category using Sorghum Partners® KS310 finishing third overall, his first place State championship in the Mulch-Till Non-Irrigated category using Sorghum Partners® SP7868, and his first place State championship in the Double Crop Non-Irrigated category using Sorghum Partners® KS310,” said Mike Battin, Chromatin’s Director of National Sales. “We would also like to congratulate Mr. David Schubert from Texas as a first place county winner in the Conventional-Till Non-Irrigated category using Sorghum Partners® SP6929 and Mr. Jerry Hull from Kansas as a first place county winner in the Conventional-Till Irrigated category using Sorghum Partners® K73-J6.”

“Sorghum has demonstrated a great ability to provide high yields for growers on the East Coast,” said Jack Welch of Maryland. “Its unique water conservation and low nutrient input requirements make sorghum a very attractive crop.”
Mr. Welch will be recognized at the 2015 Commodity Classic meeting, February 26-28 in Phoenix, Arizona. “Chromatin congratulates Mr. Welch, Mr. Schubert, and Mr. Hull on their victories at the county, state, and national levels,” said Jeff Widder, Chromatin’s Executive Vice President. “We are pleased that growers are recognizing the unique capabilities that sorghum offers, and we look forward to producing more winners with our extensive product pipeline.”
