Veritas from Plant Impact plc added to Bayer Cropscience Brazil’s product portfolio

United Kingdom
September 3, 2015

The technology, which contributes to crop efficiency, will be marketed in Brazil for soybean and dry bean crops.

Bayer CropScience Brazil and Plant Impact plc have signed a new agreement for the sale of Veritas®, an advanced technology designed to boost the efficiency of soybean and dry bean crops in Brazil. The commercial partnership foresees the addition of the Veritas® product to Bayer CropScience’s product portfolio in Brazil for the exclusive marketing of the technology in Brazil beginning with the 2014/2015 growing season.

In 2013, the companies also partnered in a pilot project carried out in Midwestern Brazil during the previous soybean and dry bean season. The 2013/2014 pilot was successful and, according to Mauro Alberton, Bayer CropScience’s Director for Strategic Crop and Portfolio Marketing, Bayer CropScience’s customers have proven productivity results by adopting Veritas® and approved the innovative technology in Brazil.

“Our strategy is to understand and meet the farmers’ demands in developing their crops. As such, this type of collaboration helps us draw even closer to our customers, offering them integrated solutions that meet their needs, thus contributing to boosting productivity and to improving the quality of what is produced”, noted Alberton.

Veritas® enhances the soybean and dry bean plants’ ability to fixate flowers and pods, thus contributing to filling grains at critical stages of their development. Veritas® is a patent-pending technology that is unique on the Brazilian market. “As part of our commitment to helping our grower customers improve yield and enhance profitability, we are very pleased to include Veritas® in our full portfolio”, said Gerhard Bohne, Head of Business Operations – Crop Protection for Bayer CropScience Brazil.

“Plant Impact shares Bayer’s commitment to thorough research and sound science, and we are extremely pleased with this important next step in our partnership,” commented John Brubaker, Plant Impact’s CEO. “Our Crop Efficiency technologies help plants improve their growing capacity under a variety of conditions, and we are confident that Veritas® will bring additional benefits to the Brazilian soy and dry bean grower as well as to the overall technical impact of the Bayer CropScience solution.”

The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
