Dairyland Seed announces Yieldmaster contest winners

Dairyland Seed recently announced the National and State winners for its annual Corn and Soybean Yieldmaster Contests.

The title of National Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to Scott and Robin Nelson of Brook, IN with a yield of 283.20 bushels per acre with DS-9713RA.  The title of National Soybean Yieldmaster was awarded to Kenneth Oltmanns of Dixon, IL, with a yield of 91.37 bushels per acre with DSR-2560/RR.

The Early Zone Soybean Yieldmaster was awarded to Dan Schmidt of Fountain, MN, with a yield of 73.50 bushels per acre with DSR-1990/R2Y. The Early Zone Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to Richard Charapata of Pewaukee, WI, who entered DS-9791RA with a yield of 242.15 bushels.  Individual state winners were also awarded.

Illinois Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Blair Hoerbert of San Jose (275.4 bu/a. with DS-9314RA); and second place, Don and Robert McLane/Dawn-An-Dusk Farms of Elizabeth (270.0 bu/a. with DS-9210RA).

Illinois Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Kenneth Oltmanns of Dixon (91.37 bu/a. with DSR-2560/RR); Second place, Terry Henze of Rock City (82.09 bu/a. with DSR-2411/R2Y); and third place, Rick Wilkening of Hinckley (79.40 bu/a. with DSR-2880/R2Y).

Indiana Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Scott and Robin Nelson, of Brook (283.2 bu/a. with DS-9713RA); second place, Mike Heckber of Ossian (251.0 bu/a. with DS-9610); and third place went to Dan Abnet of Berne (237.0 bu/a. with DS-9713RA).

Indiana Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Loren Coon, of Wingate (78.85 bu/a. with DSR-3216/R2Y); second place, Mike Heckber of Ossian (72.6 bu/a. with DSR-3232/R2Y); and third place went to Steve Conrad of Decatur (70.1 bu/a. with DSR-1990/R2Y).

Loras McQuillen of Holy Cross took first place in both the Iowa Corn and Soybean Yieldmaster Contest (76.36 bu/a. with DSR-2411/R2Y; and 253.31 bu/a. with DS-6310).

Michigan Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Todd Benjamin, of Webberville (248.10 bu/a. with DS-9303RA); second place, Chris Messing of Minden City (246.02 bu/a. with DS-9903RA); and third place went to Vaughn Buchholz of Grand Ledge (229.80 bu/a. with DS-9303RA).

Michigan Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Ed and Jerry Poortenga of Hudsonville (61.19 bu/a. with DSR-2400); second place, Vaughn Buchholz of Grand Ledge (58.50 bu/a. with DSR-2411/R2Y); and third place, Tim Rumfield of Sunfield (57.70 bu/a. with DSR-2105/R2Y).

Northern Minnesota Corn Yieldmaster: First place, Lyle Schefers, of Rice (185.96 bu/a. with HIDF-3702-9).

Southern Minnesota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Keith Speltz, of Altura (234.5 bu/a. with DS-9206RA); second place, Gale Haase of Winona (230.20 bu/a. with DS-9791RA) and third place, Randy Deisting of Buffalo (203.5 bu/a. with DS-9791RA).

Northern Minnesota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, John & Darwin Danielson of Rothsay (58.50 bu/a. with DSR-0904/R2Y).

Southern Minnesota Soybean Yieldmaster: First place, Dan Schmidt of Fountain (73.50 bu/a. with DSR-1990/R2Y).

North Dakota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Tim Berntson of Buffalo (234.57 bu/a. with DS-6789); second place, Anderson Seed Farms of Forman (193.2 bu/a. with DS-9789RA); and third place, Gary Beckman of Ypsilanti (178.30 bu/a. with DS-9487RA).

North Dakota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Tim Berntson of Buffalo (66.09 bu/a. with DSR-1120/R2Y); second place, Kellogg Farms of Marengo (57.60 bu/a. with DSR-0904/R2Y); and third place, GRG Farms of Oakes (57.40 bu/a. with DSR-0711/R2Y).

Ohio Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Kruse Brothers Farm LLC of Napoleon (225.0 bu/a. with DS-9111RA); second place went to Rodney & Randy Rosebrock of Napoleon (223.5 bu/a. with DS-9707RA); and third place was awarded to Robert Meyer of Napoleon (217.0 bu/a. with DS-9713RA).

Ohio Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Daryl Bridenbaugh of Pandora (76.46 bu/a. with DSR-3232/R2Y); second place went to Joe Will of Ft. Recovery (72.50 bu/a. with DSR-3595/R2Y); and tied for third place was Rodney & Randy Rosebrock of Napoleon (71.80 bu/a. with DSR-3040/R2Y) and Chris Vorst of Middle Point (71.80 bu/a. with DSR-3232/R2Y).

South Dakota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Wayne Johnson, of Webster (220.14 bu/a. with DS-6992); second place Eric Mueller of Big Stone City (214.7 bu/a. with DS-6992); and third place went to Bill Mueller of Big Stone City (190.8 bu/a. with DS-9399).

South Dakota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Wayne Johnson of Webster (63.80 bu/a. with DSR-1120/R2Y); second place, Eric Mueller of Big Stone City (63.6 bu/a. with DSR-1215/R2Y); and third place was awarded to Jeff Neuharth of Eureka (54.20 bu/a. with DSR-0904/R2Y).

Wisconsin Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Richard Charapata, of Pewaukee (242.15 bu/a. with DS-9791RA); second place, Moravits Farms, Inc. of Bloomington (232.98 bu/a. with DS-9305RA); and third place went to Hildebrandt Family Farms LLC of Hustisford (223.67 bu/a. with DS-6903).

Wisconsin Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Terry Laufenberg of Mt. Hope (74.26 bu/a. with DSR-2411/R2Y); second place, Lea and Matt Breuer of Bloomington (72.74 bu/a. with DSR-2560/RR); and third place was awarded to Stan and Sharleen Meinnert of Elkhart Lake (65.10 bu/a. with DSR-1808/R2Y).

“I continue to be impressed with the ability of the American farmer to continually improve their yields and productivity,” stated Dairyland Seed General Manager Tom Strachota. “Despite reduced commodity prices, the Nelsons and Ken Oltmann attained terrific yield levels. They used their ingenuity and their inputs wisely which resulted in substantial productivity.”
