The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted federal registration of new Segovis® fungicide from Syngenta. State registrations are pending. Segovis sets a higher standard for control of downy mildew and Phytophthora spp. on ornamentals crops, trees and shrubs in greenhouses and nurseries.

“Its long-lasting protection and reliable performance make Segovis a critical tool for controlling downy mildew and Phytophthora spp.,” said Howard Jaekle, fungicide brand manager for Syngenta. “With a new active ingredient, growers can better manage resistance concerns by using Segovis in rotation programs, especially those focused on preventing impatiens downy mildew, which is still problematic for many operations.”

Segovis contains oxathiapiprolin, a systemic fungicide that is effective at low use rates and offers these additional features:
  • Four-hour restricted-entry interval (REI) and no signal word on the label.
  • Excellent rotation partner with fungicides like Subdue®, Heritage™ or Micora® for a comprehensive control solution for downy mildew and Phytophthora spp.
  • Labeled for use in greenhouses, shade and lath houses, outdoor nursery production, retail nurseries and commercial landscapes.
  • Can be applied as a foliar spray or drench.
“Segovis has shown excellent performance controlling both aerial and soil-borne Phytophthora as well as many diseases caused by downy mildew fungi,” said Nancy Rechcigl, field technical manager for Syngenta. “Its new mode of action and strong systemic movement allow Segovis to provide extended protection against these key diseases.”
