Texas family thrilled to be named Cotton Grower magazine 2015 Kotton Kidz grand-prize winner - The Weinheimer family wins big with little boy who loves farm equipment

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
February 4, 2016

The Weinheimer family of Amarillo, Texas, is the grand-prize winner of the Cotton Grower magazine 2015 Kotton Kidz Photo Contest, sponsored by PhytoGen. The family was recently awarded a custom Radio Flyer® wagon, $500 in cash and a $1,000 donation to the Panhandle, Texas, FFA chapter on its behalf.

The annual photo contest asks readers of Cotton Grower to share photos of “the cutest kids in cotton.”

This year’s grand-prize photo featured Carson, now 2 years old, happily posing in a cotton field.

“Any time he can be around a cotton stripper, or farm equipment, he’s excited,” says Carson’s dad, Paul Weinheimer.

“This is a very proud moment,” Paul says of their win. “Words cannot express how excited we are to see our child in the magazine and for him to be voted No. 1 for the year. It was an honor having him up there as the monthly winner last February, so we’re excited. He’s up there with all the other little cuties.”

Paul is a fourth-generation farmer and a second-generation cotton farmer.

“I grow cotton because I love the value and qualities that fiber brings to American families, including my own!” he says.

Derek Racca, brand manager of PhytoGen® cottonseed for Dow AgroSciences, who resides in Lubbock, Texas, presented the Weinheimer family with their prizes earlier this year.

“It’s always great to get out and talk with cotton growers, but especially meaningful this year as we’ve expanded our portfolio in West Texas,” Racca says. “PhytoGen has been proud to sponsor this program and to help out a local FFA chapter with a donation on behalf of the winner.”

Each month, readers of Cotton Grower vote on which photo they think is best. Each monthly winner becomes a finalist for the grand prize, and a panel of judges chooses the grand-prize winner.
