July 2, 2012
A comprehensive new guide offers localised information to maximise yields and reduce disease pressure for northern region growers producing irrigated wheat in rotation with cotton.
The new publication, Irrigated Wheat. Best Practice Guidelines In Cotton Farming Systems, has been produced by the Cotton Catchment Communities Cooperative Research Centre (Cotton CRC) with assistance from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).
The guide includes results from research and extension projects undertaken between 2007 and 2011 with support from NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), Cotton CRC, DAFF Queensland, GRDC, CSIRO, the Foundation for Arable Research (NZ) and Griffiths Agriculture.
Key recommendations include advice for managing plant growth and reducing the risk of lodging.
