Australia - Revolutionary pest surveillance method to be launched at the 2015 National Horticulture Convention

Australia
May 8, 2015

A revolutionary new pest surveillance system that will help growers monitor insect populations will be on show at the 2015 National Horticulture Convention, Trade Show and Awards for Excellence.

The Trapview Smart Trap System utilises innovative technology in a fully integrated system to provide a simplified solution for growers, agronomists and researchers to monitor the levels of various pest species in their crops.

“We are delighted that Adama, a leading provider of innovative solutions for growers, has chosen the 2015 National Horticulture Convention to unveil this unique tool so that Australian growers and their advisors can better monitor the pest dynamics in their crops,” said AUSVEG spokesperson Lauren Winterbottom.

“This technology will provide an  accurate assessment of pest numbers and assist in determining the timing of appropriate control measures, while also potentially limiting unnecessary treatments that can be a significant cost burden on growing operations.”

AUSVEG is the leading horticultural body representing more than 9,000 Australian vegetable and potato growers.

An introduction to the Trapview system will be delivered by Adama Australia Digital Innovations Manager Alex Mills during the speaker sessions. Mr Mills is responsible for the development and execution of Adama digital activities  designed to help simplify the lives of producers from around the country.

“The addition of Alex Mills and the Trapview system to the speaker program is yet another opportunity for growers to network with industry leaders, and learn from the best in the business in an effort to improve the productivity and profitability of their operations,” said Ms Winterbottom.

“Mr Mills will bring a new level of insight for industry members in attendance, and adds more weight to the list of high caliber speakers addressing delegates at the Convention.”

Mr Mills will join a host of prestigious speakers, including President & CEO of the United States Potato Board and keynote speaker Blair Richardson, and Assistant Minister for Health, Senator Fiona Nash.
