LGC Genomics' all-inclusive DNA extraction and genotyping service makes it easy for plant breeders and researchers

United Kingdom
May 20, 2015

As part of a continuous customer-centric process to ensure that service offerings are delivering on the needs of a global customer base, LGC has launched an all-inclusive laboratory service package for the plant breeding and research communities.

The simple, all-inclusive DNA extraction and KASP genotyping service offering includes a plant kit, KASP Genotyping assay design, DNA extraction and KASP™ genotyping service, and is delivered from their global state-of-the-art laboratories.

Utilising our recently-launched plant sampling kit, to ensure the highest quality data, the service has a simple to understand pricing structure that also includes full support from our project managers and scientific support team.

Joris Parmentier, Global Product Manager, Genomics, “LGC’s vision is ‘science for a safer world’ and we are conscious of the challenges our customers in the plant research and applied markets are facing. Global food security issues like diseases, yield limitations and environmental resistance drive a need to find and develop desirable traits faster. With this new all-inclusive service we are making a big leap to help our customers to do more, faster. This service enables genotyping of more samples on more markers helping our customers to find and develop new traits faster and bring crops to the market more quickly. Additionally the service does not require customers to have a high-throughput laboratory of their own and instead allows them to take full advantage of our expertise and support.”

Since 2002, LGC has delivered well over a billion bespoke genotyping data points, using KASP and SNPLineTM technology, enabling plant breeders to identify and select drought- and disease-tolerant crop varieties, tailored to their individual environments.  Furthermore, as a result of designing more than 17,000 KASP assays for researchers and plant breeders, spanning 21 countries, LGC has generated and validated 12 KASP marker panels
