SucraSEED high sugar mixes from Grassland Oregon now even better for livestock, the environment, and pollinators

Salem Oregon, USA
May 18, 2015

Grassland Oregon announces improvements to its SucraSEED® line of high sugar forage and wildlife mixes for the upcoming season.  Two revolutionary new clovers, Frosty Berseem and FIXatioN Balansa, will be added to the lineup increasing the protein levels in SucraSEED®.  Grassland Oregon has spent the last decade developing these groundbreaking clovers.

Frosty

FIXatioN and Frosty represent tremendous improvements over previous annual clovers.  Jerry Hall, President of Grassland Oregon states, “These clovers are high in crude protein and highly digestible.  By including them into the SucraSEED® mixes we are allowing farmers, ranchers and wildlife enthusiasts to take further advantage of the high sugar grasses that this product line is based on.”  Improving the overall protein levels provides the microbes in the rumen, highly energized by the HSGs (High Sugar Grasses), to break down more plant protein even more efficiently. The result is increased milk and meat gains, while reducing nitrogen and other waste which is otherwise released back into the environment.

“Not only are the grasses in SucraSEED® environmentally friendly but by adding the new clovers we also gain a pollinator benefit,” says Jerry Hall.  “There are over 400 million acres of pasture in the United States, and by including the longer flowering annual clovers in our nation’s pastures we can greatly enhance the pollinator environment.  It feels great knowing that a product that is beneficial to livestock can also benefit pollinators; one of our most underappreciated resources.”

About SucraSEED®

The SucraSEED® product line features ryegrasses with elevated sugar levels which increase efficiency of the digestive system of animals.  Highly energized microbes in the rumen break down plant protein better, resulting in increased milk and meat gains as well as reducing nitrogen and other waste which is otherwise released back into the environment.
