France, have concluded a long-term agreement to pursue ongoing
development of innovative information systems for agricultural
use. "We believe that agricultural diagnostics is a very
promising area, as the need to safeguard yields, both
qualitatively and quantitatively, is becoming an increasingly
important concern for our customers", explained Dr. Rüdiger
Scheitza, Member of the Board of Management at Bayer CropScience
AG and Head of Global Portfolio Management.
Modern information systems are being used increasingly to
operate farms more efficiently and to spare resources. The
periodic occurrence of animal pests, plant diseases and weeds
has to be predicted and monitored. Extreme weather conditions
are also affecting the quality and yield of crops more
frequently. Prognostic models and accurate weather forecasts
help to ensure that optimal use is made of resources and to
increase yields. Costs can be reduced, leading to the production
of low-cost, high-quality food.
The objective of this cooperation is to enable the farmer to
benefit from a differentiated range of services tailored to his
individual needs. In farming, economic success is determined not
only by the selection of crops, the sowing date and the optimal
use of fertilizers and crop protection products.

Weiterentwicklung innovativer Informationssysteme für die
Landwirtschaft geschlossen. "Die Agrardiagnostik ist ein Feld,
