Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program bringing industry together

Australia
November 25, 2020

Time is running out to apply for the Australian cotton industry’s flagship leadership program – Australian Future Cotton Leaders.

The leadership program, delivered by Cotton Australia and the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC), is run every two years, with this year’s program being the seventh time it has been staged.

The program is best suited to emerging leaders actively working in the Australian cotton industry who want to progress their leadership skills.

The launch of this year’s Australian Future Cotton Leaders program comes after it was put on hiatus in 2019/20 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cotton Australia CEO Adam Kay said after the world has experienced such a challenging year, the value of strong leadership has been emphasised.

“The year 2020 has seen unprecedented challenges for our world, and it is in these times of crisis that we need strong leaders at all levels of society to stand up and help guide us through the challenges we face,” Mr Kay said.

“Our Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program facilitates that – the upskilling and empowering of our next generation of leaders to ensure they are ready to strongly guide our industry through good times and bad.

“This program has had enormous success in building a network of leaders from all corners of our industry over many years. This unites us and strengthens the collaborative, collegial bonds the Australian cotton industry is known for.”

Mr Kay welcomed applications for the program from eligible people working in the industry.

“I strongly encourage emerging leaders in our industry that want to develop their leadership skills to apply for the Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program,” he said.

“This program will help pave valuable pathways for our industry’s emerging leaders to follow, so they can achieve their goals.”

CRDC Executive Director, Dr Ian Taylor, said the Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program was a unique opportunity.

“Key elements of this program include face-to-face forums, an interactive online discussion forum, one-on-one coaching, an individual project, and integration with industry activities,” Dr Taylor said.

“By being involved in this program, participants open themselves to valuable opportunities in their future, with many graduates having gone on to be actively involved in Cotton Grower Associations and Boards, including CRDC and Cotton Australia, as well industry committees and projects. I encourage anyone considering being involved to apply today.”
