Bayer CropScience
announced today that it acquired certain assets and technology
related to biological development products of
Agrogreen, Ashdod,
Israel. Through this acquisition Bayer CropScience expands its
broad range of crop protection solutions with biocontrol agents
which offer further value added for is customers and provide the
company with interesting growth opportunities in the seed
treatment market. The company also sees good prospects for use
of these biocontrol agents by turfgrass professionals.
AgroGreen, a business unit of the Minrav Group, is one of the
leading companies in the bionematicides business. Financial
terms were not disclosed.
Dr. Rüdiger Scheitza, Member of the Board of Management of Bayer
CropScience AG and responsible for Portfolio Management,
comments: "Bayer CropScience is very well positioned in its core
crop protection business.
With this acquisition, we further strengthen our portfolio with
innovative and unique crop protection solutions to help
safeguard harvests and increase yields." Mr Avraham Kuznitski,

the products developed by Minrav being acquired by Bayer
CropScience. We are convinced that our technology will be an
excellent fit with the Bayer CropScience´s portfolio."
The acquired assets include products marketed under the brand
name BioNem (active ingredient Bacillus firmus), reducing
nematode populations and root infestations in the soil, while
stimulating increased yields.
BioNem is currently registered in Israel for use in cucumbers,
eggplant, pepper, tomato, almond, apricot, olive, peach, plum,
pomegranate, major herbs, flowers and garlic. Based on this
Bacillus Firmus as a mixing partner, Bayer CropScience plans to
develop new seed treatment solutions for important agricultural
crops such as corn, soybean and cotton as well as soil applied
applications for use on fruits and vegetables.

CropScience übernimmt biologische Produkte von AgroGreen für das
Pflanzenschutz-Geschäft
Bayer CropScience hat mit AgroGreen aus dem israelischen Ashdod
einen Vertrag zum Erwerb bestimmter Vermögenswerte und
Technologien im Zusammenhang mit biologischen
Entwicklungsprodukten geschlossen. Mit dieser Akquisition
erweitert Bayer CropScience sein breites Angebot an
Pflanzenschutzlösungen um Mittel zur biologischen
Schädlingsbekämpfung. Dadurch kann das Unternehmen seinen Kunden
einen zusätzlichen Mehrwert anbieten. Darüber hinaus eröffnen
sich für Bayer CropScience interessante Wachstumschancen im
Saatgutbehandlungsmarkt. Das Unternehmen sieht zudem gute
Perspektiven, diese biologischen Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel
auch in der gewerblichen Rasenpflege einsetzen zu können.
AgroGreen, ein Geschäftsbereich der Minrav-Gruppe, gehört zu den
führenden Anbietern von Bio-Nematiziden und Bio-Fungiziden.
Finanzielle Einzelheiten wurden nicht bekannt gegeben.

Kuznitski, der Chef der Minrav-Gruppe, zeigt sich erfreut, dass
Bayer CropScience die biologische Technologie und die von Minrav
entwickelten Produkte übernehmen wolle. "Wir sind überzeugt,
dass unsere Technologie ausgezeichnet zum Portfolio von Bayer
CropScience passt!"
Erworben wurden unter anderem Produkte, die unter der Marke
BioNem (Wirkstoff Bacillus firmus) auf dem Markt sind. Sie
reduzieren die Anzahl von Nematoden - im Boden lebende
Fadenwürmer, die Pflanzenwurzeln befallen können. Dies wirkt
sich günstig auf die Erträge aus.
BioNem ist in Israel zurzeit für den Einsatz in Gurken,
Auberginen, Paprika, Tomaten, Mandeln, Aprikosen, Oliven,
Pfirsichen, Pflaumen, Granatäpfeln, größeren Kräuterpflanzen und
Knoblauch zugelassen. Mit diesem Bacillus firmus als
Mischkomponente will Bayer CropScience neue Lösungen zur
Saatgutbehandlung für wichtige Agrarkulturen wie Mais, Soja und
Baumwolle sowie Bodenanwendungen für Obst und Gemüse entwickeln. |
