Rooted in vision, growing with purpose: East-West Seed’s 2025 Year in Review

June 11, 2026

We are pleased to share East-West Seed’s 2025 Year in Review, The Living Seed: Rooted in Vision, Growing with Purpose.

Rooted in Vision, Growing with Purpose: East-West Seed’s 2025 Year in Review

In a changing global context, our work remains rooted in a clear purpose: to help improve the livelihoods of tropical vegetable farmers. This year’s publication reflects the progress we have made across our markets, the challenges we continue to address with farmers, and the shared commitment that guides our work every day.

We also honored the legacy of our founder, Simon N. Groot, whose belief that a good seed can change the lives of millions continues to shape East-West Seed across generations.

In 2025, we continued to translate this purpose into action through several important developments:

  • Strengthening our organization for future growth: We launched our new Strategic Marketing and Crop Team Organization to better align research, development, commercial, and field teams. Alongside this, we established Knowledge Access as a dedicated function to connect technical expertise, digital tools, and field experience, making practical growing knowledge more accessible to farmers and teams across our markets.
  • Continuing to innovate for farmers: We introduced 67 varieties across markets in 2025, responding to farmer needs related to climate variability, pest and disease pressure, post-harvest losses, and changing market demands.
  • Expanding our reach and impact: We continued to serve farmers across 87 markets, with a portfolio covering 86 crops and more than 700 varieties.
  • Building stronger connections with farmers: We continued to invest in field engagement, learning farms, advisory support, digital tools, and market linkages to help farmers make better decisions, improve crop performance, and access more opportunities beyond the farm.
  • Deepening our work in Africa and Latin America: We strengthened our presence in these regions through seeds, knowledge, partnerships, and local initiatives that respond to the needs of farmers in different production contexts.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing with purpose. We will continue to build on Simon Groot’s vision by bringing better seeds, practical knowledge, and field-based support closer to the farmers we serve.
