HM-Clause acquires the vegetable seeds operations of Campbell Soup Company

HM-CLAUSE has just acquired the vegetable seeds operations of Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) in Davis, California, including the company’s research facility for vegetable breeding and seed development. In addition to breeding and developing vegetables seeds, the Agriculture Research Center sells seeds to farmers and growers around the world. The seeds operation has 19 full-time employees based in California, all of whom will join H.M. Clause.

Established in 1948, the Agricultural Research Center was originally charged with breeding tomatoes, peas, carrots and potatoes. Today, the facility primarily focuses its research efforts on tomato and pepper breeding.

HM-CLAUSE is one of the Business Units (BU) of Limagrain. Limagrain is an international agricultural co-operative group, specializing in field seeds, vegetable seeds and cereal products. Founded and managed by French farmers, Limagrain is the 4th largest seed company worldwide. The annual sales of HM-CLAUSE are € 230 Million (US$ 300 Million). The BU has a headcount of 1350 full time employees, located in over 14 countries around the world. HM-CLAUSE dedicates 15% of its turnover to research and assures breeding for 23 species with more than 400 people actively engaged in research and development activities.
