What is your
assessment of the percentage of European seed companies that
are undertaking an organic seed production program, either
in-house or through sub-contractors?
I can talk
only about the vegetable seed companies.
In our organic seed
survey 10 out of 17 of the ESA vegetable seed company members
supplied data, so that makes at least 60%. Some of these
companies are market leaders in some species, so their
relative impact on the supply of organic seeds is even
bigger.
Aside from that, there
are many more companies involved in the production of organic
seeds.
