How are the
European seed companies tooling up to meet the new legal
framework and the anticipated growth in demand for organic
seed?
First of all
we have set up already 3 years ago this Working Group at the
European level to discuss all the ins and outs of organic
seeds.
Secondly we have organized
and conducted this ESA survey last year to get also for
ourselves a better feel on the availability of organic seeds.
Thirdly we are in regular contact
with our political representatives at national and European
level to arrive together at workable regulations.
Fourthly we are in open communication
with members of the International and National Organic
Movement organizations (IFOAM, FiBL, Louis Bolk Institute
etc.).
Lastly we talk a lot with the pioneering growers
who are already involved in organic production of
vegetables. |
