Prof. Dr. Norbert Leist - International Seed Testing Association

October 2002

How often does ISTA hold association meetings? What do these meetings cover?
ISTA holds annual membership meetings and triennial seed testing congresses. In the membership meetings, named Ordinary Meeting, the voting delegates designated by their respective governments decide on changes to the ISTA Rules and other important matters concerning the Association e.g. constitution changes or position papers. In addition the chairpersons of the 17 ISTA Technical Committees give their progress reports on the activities of their Committee to the ISTA membership. The Ordinary Meeting is open for everybody.

Every three years the Ordinary Meeting is combined with the meetings of the ISTA Technical Committees and a Seed Symposium to an ISTA Seed Testing Congress. In the meeting of the Technical Committees the further planning of the work of the Technical Committees is realized as well as intensive personal discussions on various technical challenges held. Whereas during the Seed Symposium, seed scientists from all over the world present the progress of their research in regard to seed science and technology orally or with posters in several sessions.
