Prof. Dr. Norbert Leist - International Seed Testing Association

October 2002

How does ISTA work with international seed associations like ISF, APSA, ESA or FELAS?
ISTA has also a long and close relationship with the OECD Seed Schemes and the International Seed Federation (ISF). The close relation between ISTA and ISF are going back to the year 1924.

Regularly meetings and contacts assure the information exchange between these three associations. More than this the three associations are working closely together on upcoming challenges in the area of seed and are working in a team on the solution for this challenge. This good collaboration has to be seen as a main pillar for the successful international seed trade.

With the regional seed trade associations, which have been founded mainly during the last ten years, right from the beginning ISTA built up an intensive communication and exchange of information. For example the ISTA President participated in the founding meetings of APSA and AFSTA. The Secretary General of ISTA normally attends the annual meetings of these associations to keep an intensive and fruitful relation next to a regularly exchange of information. More than this joint projects have been established with some of the regional associations (for example APSA) in order to address mainly the regional challenges in regards to seed testing.
