What is ISTA’s relationship with
other organizations such as AOSA, SCST, etc.? |
 |
ISTA has a long
and close relationship with the Association of Official Seed
Analysts (AOSA), extending back to the beginning of ISTA in
1924. Over the years, members of both Associations have served
as members of the Technical Committees of the other.
Similarly, members of the Society of Commercial Seed
Technologists (SCST) have made significant contributions as
members of ISTA Technical Committees.
We are currently in discussions with the newly formed
International Society of Seed Technologists (ISST) to explore
common ground and determine how we can best complement each
other to reach our common goal of uniformity in seed testing.
An ISTA/AOSA Rules Harmonization Working Group, made up of
ISTA, AOSA and SCST members, was formed several years ago to
reduce or eliminate differences between the Rules. The
importance of this work was re-confirmed this year by the
Executive Committees of both Associations. As part of the
effort for harmonization of the Rules, the Chairs of the Rules
Committees sit as ex-officio members of each other's
committee.
It can be said that the International Rules for Seed
Testing, under the regular supervision of the worldwide "seed
knowledge", form the basis to which all the countries may
adapt their national rules for their national regulatory
necessities. |
